Harder than rock candy

Jordan 2010 negro y negro

I used to try my best at tactfully rebelling against the stale dress code at upscale nightclubs. I used to loathe hard bottom shoes. something i must have picked up during that Sunday morning dress routine preparing for church. Which presents the secondary grievance in this rationale that I'm also not a morning person. All this to say hard bottom dress shoes used to conjure up these ill references to getting dressed up. In lieu I would try to get over on the doorman by keeping it apropos up top, and sneaky on bottom (pun intended). Keys to success were: all black, slightly ambiguously classified sole, and deemed in the "shoe game" world as a badge of respect, patent leather a plus. Although hard to find, and equally hard to keep my personal code of dress integrity in check, I would make it work from time to time. Happy in my individuality - but in the grand scheme of nightlife it really made no difference. Its ridiculously dark and everyone is too wasted to give two sh*ts about your shoes at 2am. However in my eyes if i made it in, I was winning. Boy what a loser.... @ 28 its now more about a nice blazer, maybe cuff links. The subtlety in the nights attire is where my sensibilities have gone. But if i were 21 again, I would for sure try to talk the bouncer into letting me in with $140 dollar J's. Usually ends to no avail, but id try!!

bouncer: sorry bro, can't let you in with those shoes.
21yo me: what? you serious? why? i got on a collared shirt though...
bouncer: no sneakers allowed in the club.
21yo me: BUT THESE ARE F#%#$@# $140 Jordan's!
bouncer: (blank stare)
21yo me: (leaves velvet rope. goes to jack in the box. drinks a 40)

Poor Yorick

Ssur x Kidrobot

Wow. This would be so dope to have in my apartment on the bookshelf. That straight up hamlet inspiration. Whenever I want to conjure up an inspiring thought I would grab my gold-grilled skull and hold it to my face a la Olivier to think up something Mind blowing that would change the world.

JAMMIN

SUZANNE VEGA x ROOTS

I used to hate this song when i was younger. At the time it seemed a little too abstract for me, and in result the concept went way over my head. But now my music comprehension bars are bit heavier so to speak. *Hits me like a fly swat on a wall* This song is folk meets funk. progressive.

Whatever happened to?....

Van Hunt! He was supposed to be the soul revival messiah. Smash debut album. I'm sure the record industry's deep and torrential politics drowned him out like most "truly creative" artists {see: Cody Chestnutt}.

I can't believe how unbelievably good these spots are. RansomXAdidas keeps up the phenomenal branding. So sweet.

liquid swords

One of my all-time favorite albums. The intro used to bug me out. This is a must see movie since I'm into kung fu flicks.
